One Day Silence
About · the guide

Hello, I'm Geert Jan.

I guide one-person silence days, at your own home, at my place in Rosmalen, or a quiet spot in nature: a full day without words, guided meditation, and sound healing with bowls, gong, monochord and voice. One guest at a time, always.

Geert Jan, guide of One Day Silence

My way to this work was not a straight line. For years I worked in a world of full agendas and constant output, until my body stopped cooperating and I was forced to do the one thing I had always postponed: nothing. In that forced quiet I noticed how much was actually audible once the noise fell away, how clearly the body signals what it needs, and how rarely we give it the chance.

That experience turned into training, and training turned into practice. What I do now is simple to describe: guided meditation, sound healing, and held silence, arranged into one carefully structured day. Not as therapy, and not as a course with an outcome to chase, but as a day of real rest with a clear frame around it.

During One Day Silence I am present the whole time, but I stay out of the way. The structure is mine; the day is yours.

Three working principles
01 · No agendaI am not here to teach you a method or sell you a worldview. I hold a clear structure in which you can hear yourself again.
02 · Silence is workA day of not-speaking sounds simple, but a nervous system has to learn it is safe first. Pacing, warmth, and structure are where I come in.
03 · Sound carriesWhen words stop, sound still reaches the body. I work with singing bowls, gong, monochord and voice, instruments that invite deep relaxation without any effort from you.
The path here
2018-2020First retreats. A ten-day vipassana laid the foundation: the first time I met silence as a practice with structure, rather than an absence.
2020-2022Sound healing training. Two years of study with bowls, gong and voice: how frequencies move through the body and settle the nervous system.
2023-nowOne Day Silence. Guiding one-on-one silence days, from my place in Rosmalen to guests' own homes and quiet spots in nature, first for friends, now for whoever feels the pull to come. Alongside the days, I write the journal: notes on silence, sound, science and the traditions behind them.
